US trade commission opens patent case on AI server power delivery naming Foxconn, Quanta, Delta and Infineon
The US International Trade Commission instituted investigation 337-TA-1526 on 9 October on Vicor Corporation's claim that certain vertical power delivery systems, their components and computing systems containing them infringe US patent 10,903,734, Hon Hai (Foxconn) told the Taiwan Stock Exchange on 11 October. Vicor's complaint, filed 9 September, names Delta Electronics, Infineon Technologies, Luxshare, Monolithic Power Systems, Flex, Celestica, Quanta, and Foxconn with its units, and asks for a limited exclusion order and cease-and-desist orders. Foxconn says there has been no material effect on production, shipments or customers; its listed unit FII says the products concerned are still in internal validation.
Why it matters. Vertical power delivery feeds the highest-power AI accelerators. If an exclusion order followed, named respondents' infringing products could be barred from US import; the case is at its first step and nothing has been found. Germany's Infineon is a respondent.
New to our dataOur supplier tracker counts Infineon (Germany) in the power-and-cooling layer, and our Taiwan monthly tracker follows Foxconn, Quanta and Delta Electronics; all four are respondents. /global/ai-supplier-revenue → /global/taiwan-ai-supply-chain-monthly →
