Andhra Pradesh court lets the Vizag AI campus, part of Google's India hub, keep building at the developer's own risk
The Andhra Pradesh High Court has allowed Vizag Hyperscale Data Centre Park Limited, a special purpose vehicle of Adani Infra (India), to continue building the AI data-centre campus at Visakhapatnam, part of Google's India AI hub, while a public interest litigation challenges its approvals, W.Media reported on 9 October; the report does not give the order's date. The court said any investment is at the developer's own risk and cannot ground relief if the approvals are later found improper. Three petitions before the National Green Tribunal argue that the environmental and water assessment was inadequate and that, with the site under a kilometre from the Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary, approval should have come from the central government.
Why it matters. One of the largest AI campuses announced in Asia can keep building, but its approvals are contested in two forums; if they fail, the money already spent is at the developer's risk.
